Here is my list of top 10 energy robbers:

  1. Refined Cane/beet Sugar/ Fructose
  2. Caffeine
  3. Wheat/refined carbohydrates
  4. Alcohol
  5. Lack of good quality sleep
  6. Dehydration
  7. Stress (internal & external)
  8. Not eating breakfast/or a satisfying breakfast
  9. Eating too late at night
  10. Poor gut health

Some food takes more energy to break down and are considered to be ‘challenging foods’. Our modern processed diet is Carbohydrate heavy. Refined carbs are converted into glucose by the liver and if not used for energy by the body, stored as fat.

This can slow us down and make us sluggish; sugar can ferment in the gut causing gut issues and tiredness.

Some foods will give you energy; other foods will take more energy to break down than it gives. What, when and how you eat determines your performance, focus and productivity, and even mood for the whole day.

Quick fix snacks, junk foods and stimulants may give you a quick burst of false energy only to rob you of more energy later on in the day.

I drink herbal teas to avoid the quick fix energy rush of coffee and black tea Rooibush, Tulsi and Green Tea are better choices than black tea which are dehydrating.

Drinking plenty of filtered water is also very helpful for energy and focus.
